Heavy rainfall has been hitting the country since midnight, causing flooding on roads, yards and farmland in several districts.
The city of Durrës is among the most affected, with roads flooded and traffic impossible in some segments, including the Tirana-Durres axis near the gas station at the entrance to the city. The most critical situation is in the areas of Spitallë, Nishtulla and the former Kënetë (New Durrës), where many roads remain almost impassable.
A family has been evacuated to the Ministry of Interior's Rest House after their apartment was flooded. Classes have been suspended in most schools, while parents and teachers have been instructed to avoid movement until the situation calms down.
In Lezha, the rainfall has caused flooding of agricultural lands and problems in schools. A family in Milot has reported the presence of water in their apartment. In the Municipality of Lezha, the situation is more problematic as the Drin River has reached a critical level of over +2.2 meters, while the yards of the “Kosova” and “Gjergj Fishta” schools have been flooded, suspending classes.
Large areas of agricultural land have been affected, while a family in Torovicë has requested emergency assistance due to water entering their home up to 50 cm deep. OSHEE reports problems with the feeder that supplies several villages.
Even in Mirdita, the rainfall has been intense, but so far no serious problems have been reported. The levels of the Drin and Mat rivers have increased, while some peripheral areas have suffered power outages.
In the city of Kukës, floods have affected several road segments, making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to move, especially on "Prizren" street and the new neighborhood of the city.
Many rural roads have been damaged by overflowing streams, isolating various areas. Authorities advise citizens to exercise caution when traveling.
The Elbasan-Gjinar road axis is facing serious traffic difficulties due to water and soil deposits along the road. The situation affects the villages of the Gjinar municipal unit and citizens are advised to drive with increased caution, especially at night and during rainfall. Local authorities are planning interventions to clean the roads and normalize traffic.
Local authorities and civil emergencies are on the ground monitoring the situation and intervening where necessary, while citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary movements and exercise maximum caution.
