Just a few rains were enough for the Qukës-Qafë Plloçë axis to be damaged in some of its segments. The 43-kilometer-long road, inaugurated by the prime minister two months ago and built at a cost of 260 million euros, still does not seem to guarantee complete safety, despite the fact that the works on it lasted 16 years.
At kilometer 35, the slopes cracked and a mass of rocks fell onto the road, fortunately without hitting any vehicles. The road is currently blocked, while the construction company has opened a temporary section until the damaged area is cleaned and repaired.

The incident raises serious questions about the quality of the works and the management of investments in national infrastructure. The new roads, which were supposed to improve traffic and safety for citizens, seem unable to withstand even basic weather conditions.
