Strong clashes at the Dibra prosecutor's office, between the head of the institution, Abaz Muça, and one of the prosecutors.
Sources indicate that the conflict began after the head of the prosecution illegally returned material evidence (a vehicle) that had been seized from a person convicted several times for various criminal offenses, such as stalking, resisting a police officer, and in the field of narcotics.
The return of the car was done, according to sources, in violation of the law, as the prosecutor in the case, Urim Kalia, ordered that the material evidence not be returned as the case was in the trial process. However, the head of the institution verbally ordered the police to carry out such an action.
The prosecutor in the Kalia case has begun the investigation by seizing the video footage, the vehicle's entrances and exits from the police station. After receiving information about the start of the investigation, the police, ordered by the head of the prosecution, returned the vehicle to the police station.
After hearing the testimonies of the officers, who stated that they were ordered by the head of the prosecution to carry out such an action, the prosecutor in the case registered criminal proceedings against the head of the prosecution and the officers of the Dibër police station.
Sources say that after the head of the prosecution office learned of the launch of the investigation, he ordered the prosecutor's secretary not to provide the prosecutor with any services for the protocolization of the documents. This forced the prosecutor in the case to initiate the proceedings for competence in the Kukës Prosecutor's Office without a supporting document and without a protocol number.
Sources at the Kukes prosecutor's office said that the case is in the review phase and the prosecutor in charge will decide on its fate within the legal deadline, thus acknowledging that she has taken the case under her jurisdiction.
The High Prosecutorial Council and the High Inspector of Justice have been notified regarding this clash.
