After putting on his boots, the Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari, anxiously went to the field to see up close the situation created by the floods in the Durrës prison.
In footage obtained by VNA, the minister inspected the prison premises and requested the disconnection of electricity on the first floor and the evacuation of prisoners on the floors above, including high-profile prisoners. In parallel, high-capacity pumps from the Ministry of Defense have been deployed to assist the Penitentiary Institution to remove water.
Meanwhile, the Civil Emergency Commission is operating in Durrës, coordinating actions to cope with the situation created by the bad weather.
The Director General of Prisons, Klevis Qose, stated that the situation is under control and that the necessary supplies with logistical means are being provided to guarantee the normal continuation of activity and the safety of prisoners and staff.
