A 46-year-old man from Tirana, Altin Celami, has been arrested following an operation codenamed "Gun Expert", during which police seized 4 pistols with live ammunition, cocaine and various weapon parts. Celami, who used his taxi to evade checks, is suspected of supplying criminal groups with firearms.
Police report that Celami was previously implicated in similar activities, and in 2022 he was arrested as a suspect for supplying criminal groups, and was also suspended from military functions in the Pezë Helmez unit.
The operation, conducted by Police Commissariat No. 4 in cooperation with the Traffic Section of the Tirana DVP and under the direction of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, led to the arrest of Celami on Dibra Street while driving a taxi.
During the search of the vehicle and the apartment, weapons, ammunition, drugs and weapon parts were seized, which will be used as material evidence. The police announce that work continues to identify other persons involved in this criminal activity.
