The Supreme Court overturns the decision for Domart Konjar and returns the case for retrial to the Appeals Court with a different panel of judges.
"Reversal of decision no. 25, dated 07.10.2021 of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime and remand of the case for reconsideration in the same court, with another panel of judges," the provision states.
Konjari was sentenced in 2021 to 15 years in prison in absentia for drug trafficking and criminal organization.
He is accused of being the head of one of the largest criminal organizations that trafficked drugs from Latin America to Europe. Konjari had his base in France.
Domart Konjari was in conflict with Devi Kasmi. The latter was executed in Tirana in 2018 by Efthimio Efthimius, a former Greek special forces officer. Konjari and Kasmi clashed over cocaine trafficking deals.
