The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has completed the investigations and sent for trial to the Special Court criminal file no. 55 of 2025, related to electoral corruption in the Lezha Region.
The defendants who will face justice are Gersi Kaçorri, accused of "active corruption in elections", and Besnik Uka and Artur Jahja, accused of "passive corruption in elections", all committed in collaboration, under articles 328, 328/b and 25 of the Criminal Code.
The investigation was initiated on the basis of material referred by the National Bureau of Investigation and was conducted through special methods, including telephone interceptions and field observations. From the evidence collected, SPAK concludes that during the campaign for the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025, the three defendants were involved in illegal activities in the Kurbin area, offering and distributing money in exchange for votes in favor of the Socialist Party.
According to the indictment, they collaborated with each other to influence the way voters voted, by promising and giving monetary sums in support of the ruling political entity. The file is now being forwarded to the Special Court, which will decide on the criminal liability of the accused.
