The scientific laboratory at the State Police is expected to conduct an expertise on the eavesdropping devices that were blocked a few days ago at the Port of Durres. Sources from the Durres Prosecutor's Office said that Prosecutor Sokol Nishani has decided to conduct an expertise, from which it will be confirmed whether or not illegal eavesdropping has been carried out.
The equipment was blocked days ago at the port, as two Guardia di Finanza officers and a third citizen were leaving Albania. The Durrës Prosecutor's Office is investigating the criminal offense of "illegal wiretapping", and will request, through registered letter, information about the three citizens who were transporting the equipment.
There are strong suspicions that the blocked devices were used to wiretap certain figures under investigation by the Guardia di Finanza. But the violation committed in this case, by the people who were allowed to leave after questioning, is the fact that there was no authorization from the Albanian authorities for the use of the devices in question. Sources confirm that the devices carry out environmental and telephone wiretaps.
