The Special Court announced that on August 13 at 10 a.m. it will review former President Ilir Meta's request for a change in security measures. Earlier, Special Judge Erjon Bani decided to declare incompetence and transfer the case to Preliminary Investigation Judge Erjon Çela.
Ilir Meta is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
He is seeking freedom because he claims there is no risk of tampering with evidence or evading the investigation, but with the intention of returning to political activity.
The decision on his request is expected to be signed on August 13.
