Soni Pepa, wanted by SPAK, is arrested in Santo Domingo.
At the time of Pepa's arrest, he was found in possession of an Albanian passport, several Italian documents, and five encrypted mobile phones.
Santo Domingo, RD – The National Police, through the INTERPOL Santo Domingo National Central Office (OCN), arrested an Albanian citizen wanted by the judicial authorities of his country through Red Notice A-11907/8-2025, for suspicion of his involvement in international drug trafficking.
The detainee is Soni Pepa, 40 years old, who is linked to a shipment of 11 tons of cocaine, of which 600 kilograms were seized in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, between November 7 and 8, 2020. In addition, he is accused of financing the purchase of another 10 kilograms in the same city.
The arrest was made on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 3, in the National District.
According to international reports, Pepa was part of a transnational criminal group operating in several European and South American countries, with the aim of trafficking large quantities of narcotics. The cargo in question had left the port of Villetas, in Paraguay, with the destination port of Antwerp, in Belgium.
At the time of the arrest, Pepa was seized with an Albanian passport, several documents of Italian origin, five encrypted cell phones, and cash.
The detainee was sent to the General Directorate of Immigration for further deportation, in coordination with OCN-INTERPOL Santo Domingo.
