With deep sorrow, the Armani Group announced today the passing of its founder and lifelong inspiration, Giorgio Armani. “Mr. Armani – as he was always called with respect and admiration by his employees and collaborators – passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones,” the statement said.
The legendary designer, known as one of the greatest figures in world fashion, continued to work until the last days of his life, dedicating himself to the company, its collections and numerous projects.
In the official statement, the company emphasizes that “Giorgio Armani created a vision that crossed the boundaries of fashion, extending to every aspect of life and anticipating his time with extraordinary clarity and realism. He was guided by an inexhaustible curiosity, by attention to the present and to people. On this journey, he created an open dialogue with the public, becoming a beloved and respected figure for his ability to communicate with everyone.”
Armani was also known for his social commitment, especially to his beloved city, Milan. The company that bears his name, now with a history of 50 years, has grown on the foundation of the vision, patience and passion of the founder. “He has always made independence of thought and action his own, making it his hallmark. Today and forever, the company remains a reflection of this spirit,” the announcement concludes.
The morgue will open on Saturday, September 6th.
