New details have come to light regarding the November 11 mafia assassination near Rinas, where Gilmando Dani and AMP officer Muçi Shaljani were killed, who died a few days later in hospital from his wounds.
Investigative sources say that ballistics expertise of the weapons found in the perpetrators' burnt vehicle has confirmed that they were not used in other criminal incidents. This finding excludes one of the initial leads of the investigation, according to which the arsenal of weapons could have been secured in the apartment discovered a few hours after the assassination in the village of Zall, owned by Ylli Zalla, who is already wanted.
Meanwhile, the person who was arrested on Tuesday evening, December 9, in connection with the incident, was released after questioning. The 35-year-old man with the initials B. Xh., a resident of the village of Halil, the area where the perpetrators' "Toyota" was discovered burned, stated that he was not in the apartment at the time of the incident and that he had no knowledge of the perpetrators' movements. He was summoned to provide explanations due to a previous conviction for robbery.
A month after the assassination, investigations continue to focus on questioning people who may have valuable information, but so far no perpetrators or orderers have been identified. Dani and Shaljani had just returned from a trip to Barcelona when they were met at the Rinas roundabout by the assassins who executed them with a barrage of gunfire.
