Police officers who disobey Ilir Proda face retaliation. In recent days, the Directorate of Professional Standards has issued a series of severe measures against several officials. Taulant Gjoka, former deputy director for order at the Police Directorate in Lezha, has been dismissed from the ranks of the State Police. Gjoka had previously been punished by being transferred to the head of the public security sector at the Shkodra Police Directorate.
The same measure, that of exclusion, was also signed for Sadik Kateshi, former Deputy Director of the Police in Elbasan.
Mariglen Duçi, former chief of the police station in Malësia e Madhe, currently head of the Crime Investigation Department in Kukës, did not survive Ilir Proda's "sword". Duçi was also dismissed from the police force. The officers have appealed the decision, but the chances of any changes are slim, which will force them to go to the Administrative Court.
But these names are not the only ones who have faced pressure and threats to leave by Ilir Proda. Altin Mena, one of the candidates for Director General of the State Police, Proda's main rival, has been punished with disciplinary action with a demotion for 5 years.
Another senior police officer, Dorian Muça, is facing the same pressure for a demotion, and he has also been threatened with death because of his duty, after years ago a TNT bomb was placed on his apartment door.
Sources say that many other police officers are under pressure and are choosing to resign from the police force. But how long will this continue? Can the State Police be led by personal grudges?
