In Milan and its surroundings, Italian police have conducted an operation to crack down on a structured group involved in drug trafficking and distribution.
The investigations, which lasted for months, revealed a well-organized system, involving both Albanian and Italian citizens, operating in several areas of the city and the surrounding province.
It all started on an ordinary afternoon, when police patrols carried out a search of an apartment in the Pieve Emanuele area, south of Milan. The apartment, suspected of being a drug storage facility, turned out to contain a significant amount of sophisticatedly hidden narcotics. Hashish, marijuana, ketamine and other equipment for processing and distributing drugs were immediately seized. A 29-year-old Italian was arrested in the operation.
A few hours later, at another stop in the center of Milan, another suspicious vehicle was identified, in which two Italians were traveling. Over 2 kg of drugs were found in the bag of one of them, while a subsequent search of his apartment revealed another large quantity of hashish and electronic cigarettes loaded with psychoactive ingredients.
The police investigations continued in a coordinated manner and culminated in another intervention near Cornaredo, where a luxury vehicle with two passengers – an Albanian and an Italian – was stopped by the officers. During the search, a large sum of money was found hidden in the clothes of the Albanian citizen, while his partner was found to be in possession of over a kilogram of cocaine.
The developments led to another raid, this time in a residence used as a warehouse, where over 15 kilograms of various types of drugs and an 8 mm caliber pistol were seized.
In total, the operations resulted in seven people being arrested, the seizure of approximately 50 kilograms of drugs, and the seizure of equipment for processing, packaging, and measuring narcotic substances, including significant amounts of cash.
The Italian police have described this operation as a significant blow to a structure that not only distributed drugs on a large scale, but had also set up a functional system for managing profits and trafficking logistics.
