The Durrës Police have finalized the police operation codenamed “Storm 9”, which aimed to crack down on a criminal group involved in the trafficking of women for the purpose of exploitation for prostitution. As part of this operation, citizen DG, 28 years old, originally from Colombia, suspected of being the main organizer of the criminal activity, has been declared wanted. This citizen is accused of the criminal offenses of “Trafficking in adults” and “Exploitation of prostitution”.
During the operation, police forces arrested two Colombian citizens, MA and YC, both 24 years old, who had rented an apartment in neighborhood no. 18 of Durrës, where they were suspected of practicing prostitution and distributing narcotics. The arrested women are accused of the criminal offenses of “Prostitution”, “Adapting premises for prostitution” and “Production and sale of narcotics”.
The Police have also initiated criminal proceedings against the owner of the apartment, citizen VR, 45 years old, resident of Durrës, for the criminal offenses of "Hiding income" and "Failure to report a crime".
Following the investigations, three other citizens, MS, EB and AH, were criminally prosecuted for the criminal offense of "Prostitution".
During the search of the apartment used for illegal activity, the Police services seized a quantity of narcotics suspected of being cannabis sativa, a sum of money suspected of being obtained from prostitution, five mobile phones and the passports of two arrested citizens.
Durrës Police informs that investigations are continuing to identify and capture the wanted organizer, as well as to fully uncover the criminal network involved in this illegal activity.
