The Supreme Court has decided to overturn the decision of the Special Appeal and return the case of Alqi Bllako for reconsideration. Bllako was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison for abuse of office in connection with the Fier incinerator.
Previously, the First Instance Court had declared him not guilty, a decision that Bllako requested to be upheld, but the Supreme Court ruled differently.
In its decision, the Supreme Court overturned decision no. 55 dated 19.12.2024 of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime and ordered that the case be re-examined by another panel.
On appeal, Bllako was initially sentenced to 4 years in prison for abuse of office, a sentence that was reduced to 2 years and 8 months due to a summary trial.
