The Director General of Police, Ilir Proda, today distributed another commendation sheet, this time for Officer Klajdi Mustaj, who saved three people from a road accident. A truly humane act by a police officer – but also a golden opportunity for the director to appear in the media.
Because when it comes to photos, speeches and certificates, Ilir Proda is remembered. But when it comes to the real problems of the police force, the conditions, support and professionalism that they really need, or to explain why the State Police has blocked the premises of a national television station like News24 for three days – there is complete silence. Not a word, no explanation, no responsibility.
The police today need care and serious direction, not certificates that are only worth as decoration for the cameras. But apparently, for Ilir Proda, propaganda is more valuable than facts. And the praise sheets do not fill the gaps of an institution that distributes "gratitude", but does not dare to talk about the state of the state police.
