The investigations against former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku have brought former national football player Igli Tare back to SPAK for the third time. He appeared on Monday morning and gave explanations to investigators from the National Bureau of Investigation regarding a luxury villa in Palasa.
The property is registered in Tara's name, but according to SPAK investigations, it is suspected to be Balluk's hidden assets. The villa has already been placed under seizure.
According to SPAK, the construction of the villa up to the carbine stage was financed by Tare, while the rest of the investment is suspected to have been carried out by Arbër Abazi's company "Alko Impex General Konstruktion". This company benefited from public tenders during the period when Balluku headed the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Tare, who is being investigated for money laundering, did not give any statements to the media after appearing before SPAK.
Earlier, the Special Prosecution Office seized another luxury villa in Dhërmi, also registered in Tara's name, but which, according to investigators, is indirectly owned by Balluku.
The former Minister of Infrastructure is being investigated for corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, while she has been charged with violating equality in several tender procedures worth millions of euros.
Security measures against Balluk include "ban on leaving the country" and "suspension from exercising functions."
