Magistrates take to the Constitutional Court the law on the new formula on the basis of which their salary was calculated. The National Association of Judges, the Union of Judges and the Association of Prosecutors, through the lawsuit filed with the Constitutional Court, request the “Repeal of Law No. 95/2026, dated 18.9.2026, 'On some additions and amendments to Law No. 96/2016, “On the status of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania”, as amended'”.
They also demand that this law be suspended until the final decision of the Constitutional Court enters into force. The Constitutional Court forced the government to calculate, according to a new formula, the salaries of magistrates by July 31, 2026.
Due to the non-implementation of the Constitution, the KLP and KLGJ set the salaries of magistrates themselves. But the decisions were not implemented and the salaries were blocked in the treasury. For this impasse, the magistrates reported to SPAK the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, while the government, on the other hand, approved the new legal changes.
