US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a joint press conference where they announced a 20-point proposal on the future of Gaza.
Trump called on Hamas to accept the terms of the plan, expressing confidence that the group would accept them. On the other hand, Netanyahu warned that if Hamas rejects or withdraws from the agreement, “Israel will finish the job alone.” According to him, the plan offers a “realistic” way forward in Gaza and “fulfills Israel’s war objectives.”
Netanyahu announced that Israel's withdrawal from Gaza would be gradual and directly linked to the level of Hamas disarmament. He and Trump confirmed the creation of a new international monitoring body, the establishment of a Palestinian-led government, and a cessation of fighting in Gaza.
Meanwhile, a Hamas official, Mahmoud Mardawi, told Al Jazeera that the group has not yet received Trump's written plan for peace in Gaza. He stressed that no official document has been handed to it, despite the joint press conference between the US president and the Israeli prime minister.
