The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has recently expressed optimism regarding the progress of talks to end the war in Gaza, considering this process as the first real opportunity for achieving a lasting peace in the Middle East.
In an interview with the American media outlet Axios, Trump said that negotiations are entering their final phase and that there is a high possibility that the agreement will be finalized within the next two days. He stressed that a decisive moment will be his planned meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office on Monday.
“Everybody is working together to reach an agreement, but we have to reach it,” the US president said in a phone call with Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
Trump also praised the role of Arab countries in this process, describing the cooperation with them as "fantastic" and expressing special respect for the Arab world. According to him, the main parties involved, including Israel and the Arab countries, have clearly shown their desire to end the conflict.
"The Arab world wants peace, Israel wants peace, and Bibi wants peace," Trump said, referring to Netanyahu by his familiar nickname.
The American president emphasized that reaching this agreement would constitute a historic turning point, describing it as the first real chance for peace in the Middle East after decades of conflict and ongoing tensions.
