A review of the United States' relationship with NATO was announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, following the end of the US-Israeli war against Iran, noting that Washington will reassess the role of the alliance, with the final decision to be made by President Donald Trump.
The head of American diplomacy told the Fox News television network that Washington will review its relationship with NATO once the conflict with Iran ends.
"I think unfortunately there is no doubt that after this conflict is over, we will have to review the relationship with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization," he said.
As he emphasized, the US government will examine "the value of NATO to our country within the context of this alliance."
Marco Rubio emphasized that the final decision on the course of relations with NATO will be made by President Donald Trump, leaving open the possibility of changes in the US role in the alliance.
The statement is part of the broader context of developments related to the war in Iran and the geopolitical implications of the conflict.
