United States President Donald Trump stated that American military operations against Iran are expected to end within the next two to three weeks, emphasizing that the main objective of this campaign has already been achieved.
According to him, the fundamental goal of the American strategy has been to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. "That was the objective and it has been achieved," Trump said, adding that developments on the ground have significantly weakened Iran's military capabilities.
He announced that the operations are in the final stages. "We are now closing this matter. I think within two weeks, or a little more, everything will be completed. We intend to neutralize any remaining capacity," the American president declared.
Trump also left open the possibility of a deal between Washington and Tehran, even before the full end of military operations. "There could be a deal," he said, adding that the outcome did not necessarily depend on Iran's participation in the negotiations.
In his statements, Trump claimed that American intervention has set back the Iranian program for decades. "It doesn't matter if they sit at the table or not. We've set them back 15 to 20 years. They don't have a navy, they don't have an army, they don't have an air force," he said.
He also added that the Iranian leadership has been significantly weakened, stressing that the country "no longer has functional leaders."
