The pension system in Germany needs to be changed profoundly and urgently.
This call was made by the director of Deutsche Börse (German financial markets company) Stephan Leithner, who said that the state is spending more and more money to keep that system functioning.
He added that this situation cannot continue for long.
"We can no longer sit idly by while more and more money from the federal budget is needed to cover the gaps in the pension system," Leithner said.
