President Donald Trump declared that he is "strongly considering" withdrawing the United States from NATO.
Trump reportedly called the alliance a "paper tiger" and claimed that the United Kingdom does not have a capable navy.
"Oh yeah, I would say it's beyond any reconsideration. I was never influenced by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and Putin knows that, and so do I, by the way," Trump said after being asked if he would reconsider US membership in NATO following the conflict in the Middle East.
"You don't even have a navy. You're very old and you had aircraft carriers that weren't working," he added, referring to the state of Britain's warship fleet.
