Five major countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Italy and New Zealand, have sharply criticized Israel's decision to launch a new military offensive in Gaza, warning that it will worsen the humanitarian situation and endanger the lives of civilians and hostages.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers expressed concern about possible violations of international humanitarian law and called for a permanent ceasefire to prevent an escalation of the conflict. The offensive comes after Israel's security cabinet approved a plan to take military control of Gaza City.
Meanwhile, criticism has also come from other countries such as France, Canada, Qatar and the United Nations. The UN Security Council is expected to meet soon to discuss the situation in the Middle East, while diplomatic tensions and international reactions to the issue continue to grow.
