US Vice President JD Vance said his country has no plans to recognize a Palestinian state, an issue he plans to discuss with British Foreign Secretary David Lamy in a meeting later today.
"We have no plans to recognize a Palestinian state. I don't know what it would mean to actually recognize a Palestinian state, given the lack of a functioning government there," Vance told reporters.
He added that President Donald Trump has been very clear about his goals, about what he wants to achieve in the Middle East, and will continue to do so.
Vance will meet Lamy at Chevening House, in southern England, used by the Foreign Secretary, at the start of a trip to Britain, accompanied by his family.
Lamy, for his part, said he would discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip when he meets with the US vice president. Speaking to Vance, he said that UK-US relations are excellent.
