When it comes to the internet, many Albanians choose to subscribe to companies that offer both internet, television and home telephony services. The latest data from the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) shows that compared to last year, there has been an increase in citizens and businesses using services from fixed networks, with the exception of fixed telephony.
Compared to the first quarter of 2024, this year it turns out that Albanians have installed a larger number of devices that provide internet at home. The number of subscribers with broadband internet access from fixed networks reached around 682 thousand, which represents a decrease of 0.7% compared to the previous quarter, but an increase of around 7.1% compared to the same quarter in 2024.
Meanwhile, the number of those paying to have a telephone, internet and television together, in their home or business, reached around 296 thousand at the end of March, a decrease of 1.1% compared to the last quarter of 2024, but an increase of 0.9% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
Of those who choose integrated packages, 47.6% subscribe to dual packages (internet and television), 29.9% pay to a single company for dual packages (internet and telephone), while 22.5% subscribe to triple packages (internet, television and telephone).
As for old wired phones, their use continues to decline. According to official statistics, the number of fixed line subscribers at the end of the first quarter of 2025 was reported to be around 159 thousand, decreasing by 6.8% compared to the same period last year.
