On the second day of 2026, snowfall returned to the mountainous areas of the north and southeast of the country. In the north, snow was recorded on the Dedaj–Razëm, Bogë–Theth and Vermosh axes, as well as in the city of Shkodra, where the precipitation later turned into rain.
Road traffic authorities report that traffic is moving normally, but drivers are advised to use winter tires and carry snow chains in case of frost.
In the southeast, snow has fallen at the Qafë Thanë border crossing, the Mokra area and the Qukës–Qafë Pllocë road. Temperatures have dropped to -7°C. Traffic police are appealing for increased caution, reduced speed and the use of winter tires, while also recommending that movements towards icy mountain areas be minimized.
The first snow of the year has also whitened Librazhd, creating a wintery scene and significantly lowering temperatures. The precipitation has covered the streets, rooftops and surrounding areas with a white layer of snow.
