The State Police has announced the special plan of measures to guarantee order and security before, during and after the international football match “Albania – Latvia”, which will take place on September 9, 2025, at 20:45, at the “Arena Kombëtare” stadium in Tirana. For this match, the authorities have foreseen a series of measures, starting from the escort and security of the Latvian team players from Rinas airport to the hotel and stadium, as well as their return after the end of the match. Meanwhile, the Albanian team players will be kept under surveillance and security during their stay at the stadium. Detailed checks will be carried out before and inside the stadium to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons, as well as the introduction of prohibited items and pyrotechnics. The police will organize services to guarantee public order not only near the stadium, but also throughout the city of Tirana, also ensuring the passage of emergency services and managing road traffic before, during and after the match.
For the smooth running of the activity, the State Police has collaborated with the Albanian Football Federation, UEFA, the Republic Guard, the Municipal Police, the Fire Service, private security companies, hospitals and health centers, as well as with the security personnel of the Latvian team, in order to increase security standards.
As part of the traffic measures, on September 9 from 17:00 until the end of the match, several main roads will be blocked, including the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard from the intersection near the Presidency towards “Mother Teresa” Square, “Papa Gjon Pali i II” Street, “Dervish Hima” Street, “Asim Zeneli” Street, “Themistokli Gërmenji” Street, “Gjergj Filipi” Street, “Lekë Dukagjini” Street to the stadium, “Faik Konica” Street and “Skerdilajd Llagami” Street. To facilitate the movement of fans, special parking areas have been set up for buses and personal vehicles, according to the regions from which the fans come.
The police have announced that they will carry out detailed checks on fans to prevent the entry of prohibited items, including banners with racist content, fireworks, flares and pyrotechnics. Anti-drone equipment will also be used to shoot down any drones raised above the stadium.
The authorities appeal for respect for the law, warning that entering the field by unauthorized persons, throwing hard objects or using pyrotechnics are punishable by fines or imprisonment under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania. Also, violence against athletes, coaches or referees due to sports activity is punishable by imprisonment, especially in repeated cases.
The entry of fans into the stadium will begin at 18:00, while the Police call on citizens not to publish purchased tickets on social networks, as each ticket is personal and equipped with a barcode, guaranteeing that any attempt to enter with a counterfeit or duplicate ticket is immediately identified. Any legal violation must be reported immediately to 112.
For the smooth running of the activity, the State Police has engaged hundreds of employees, who will guarantee public order and safety, as well as provide assistance and information to fans, in order for the match to take place without incidents and in the interest of the country's image.
