Tirana is supplied with drinking water only 5 hours a day. In some areas, water from the water supply pipes flows only 3 hours, 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening. In buildings built before the 1990s, the situation is more problematic, as they do not have large underground deposits, but only those on the terraces.
The capital is supplied with water at set times. Some neighborhoods have it twice a day, mainly in the morning, at 06:30 or in the evening from 19:00 to 21:00. Some other neighborhoods are supplied three times, but citizens say it is insufficient.
But there are also areas, those on the outskirts, where the population has increased at a rapid pace, that are not supplied for days.
The lack of drinking water is affecting not only residents, but also thousands of tourists who visit Tirana every day. Many of those staying in Airbnbs in old buildings are unable to even take a shower.
Tirana is the only capital in the region and Europe that has this scandalous level of water supply. Data provided by TV Klan shows that our capital is in last place.
Pristina, which is in second place, has 16 to 20 hours of water per day. Other capitals such as Skopje, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Belgrade, Sofia or Athens have 24 hours of uninterrupted water./ TV Klan
