On Wednesday morning, oil workers and other employees of the company “Bankers Petroleum” in Marinza began a hunger strike in front of the company’s offices. Around 200 employees protested at the workplace, while according to the head of the Hydrocarbon Sector Union, Dritan Shahu, ten of them have gone on a hunger strike inside one of the union’s offices.
In addition to the hunger strike, oil groups also boycotted the work process as a sign of dissatisfaction with the situation.
Employees say that the company has not made any salary reviews or increases in the last 10 years, which has led to deep dissatisfaction among them.
On Thursday, more oil workers are expected to join the strike, as so far the company "Bankers Petroleum" has not taken into account their demands for improved working conditions and increased wages.
