On September 1, media outlets around the world will join in a solidarity action to condemn violence and attacks on journalists in Gaza, in a joint initiative of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Reporters Without Borders and Avaaz.
Gaza has become one of the most dangerous places in modern history for the journalism profession, and for this reason, international media will take a series of symbolic actions:
-Black front pages with unified messages in online media
-Digital banners on the main pages of portals
-Spots and broadcast interruptions on television screens
This action aims to seek:
-Immediate cessation of attacks on journalists
-Free and safe access for the international press in Gaza
The most well-known global media outlets such as: Al Jazeera, The Guardian, The Independent, NPR, Mediapart, Wired, The Times of Malta, as well as dozens of other media outlets from the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand and other regions have already confirmed their participation in this initiative.
This is considered a historic moment of global media unity in defense of press freedom and the safety of journalists in conflict zones.
