The road segment that was expected to open today at noon as a bypass to ease traffic in the "Arrat e Gurrës" area, in the village of Dragostunjë, Librazhd, suffered serious damage just a few hours before opening.
Sources on the ground indicate that the secondary road, opened to allow temporary passage of vehicles, has sunk as a result of a massive landslide. A significant area of land has moved, seriously damaging the works carried out in recent days and making the segment completely impassable.
Due to the risk of the situation worsening, the vehicles of the implementing company have been withdrawn from the area, while pedestrian traffic has been prohibited. There is a fear of further subsidence of the terrain, as the area is considered to have high geological instability.
The situation has alarmed state structures and central authorities, while an urgent reassessment of the geological conditions and the intervention plan is expected. Specialists warn that interventions in this terrain are difficult and carry a high risk, leaving the deadline for the return of traffic in this strategic segment unclear.
