Residents of several villages in the Kolonja area have protested today in Qafzez, near the Baba Selim bridge, which is located over the Osumi River. The rally comes after the isolation of over 10 villages, which have been facing the consequences of torrential rains and floods for a week that have severely damaged infrastructure.
The connecting bridge, the only road in and out of the area, has been severely damaged, making it impossible for vehicles and emergency vehicles to pass through. As a result, residents say that in some of the remote villages there are sick people waiting for help, while intervention has been impossible due to the complete blockage of the road.
"We have sick people waiting at the mercy of fate," the protesters say.
Residents are calling on institutions to urgently intervene and restore the bridge's passability, as the severe damage has cut off the area from the main road and left the community in complete isolation.
