Residents of Durrës held a protest this Friday in front of the Prime Minister's Office, against the TID (Integrated Transformation of Durrës) project, demanding government intervention and a review of the decision that foresees the demolition of their homes in the area near the amphitheater.
"Stop theft" and "Stop the TID project" were some of the banners held by the protesters, who accuse the authorities of violating property rights and lack of transparency. They declared that they will continue the protests until the project in its current form is canceled.
According to residents, 74 families have been suddenly informed that their homes will be demolished to make way for a public garden, without prior consultation or consent. They also claim that the expropriation process is being carried out at reference prices that do not reflect the real value of the properties.
Residents have also taken legal action to oppose the project, while in their support, various citizens have signed a petition against the expropriations, describing them as unfair and abusive.
