The imams of Albania raise their voices against the genocide committed in Gaza, condemning the killings of civilians, the destruction of infrastructure and the innocent suffering of the population. They call for an immediate end to the violence, the allowing of humanitarian aid and the punishment of criminals. The appeal is addressed to the public opinion, governments and international organizations to assume moral and legal responsibilities in the protection of human life and dignity.
statement
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful!
We, the imams of Albania, the signatories of this declaration, aware of the responsibility we have towards God, as well as the moral burden to be on the side of justice, raise our voices in the face of the unprecedented crime that is taking place before the eyes of the entire world: the genocide against the martyred population of Gaza.
Although Palestinians have been suffering under Israeli repression for decades, for two years now, children, women, the elderly and men have been barbarically killed and left to starve to death, hospitals and schools are being destroyed, mosques and churches are being demolished, while the whole world looks on with almost no action. To date, according to official figures, over 62,000 people have been killed, while other independent sources raise the figure to 100,000 dead and missing. Of these, over half are women and children. Even according to a report by the army itself that has committed these crimes, about 83% of those killed are civilians. Meanwhile, the crisis of hunger, health care and basic living services has surpassed all possible imagination. Almost all of Gaza's vital infrastructure is destroyed or severely damaged. Hundreds of journalists have been killed and continue to be killed. Gaza has become a human bloodbath that, like never before in history, is being watched in real time by the entire world, which is simply amazed by the horror of the images!
Every day that remains silent about this tragedy is a new wound and a grave shame on the conscience of humanity.
We proclaim loudly that:
This is a historical crime, an open genocide, an injustice that cannot be justified by any political, military or religious argument.
The criminals must be stopped immediately, the war must end, humanitarian aid must enter the entire territory freely, the occupied lands must be liberated, and the criminals must be brought to justice.
Every spilled blood is evidence that weighs heavily on the murderers and those who support them.
We call on Albanian public opinion, and beyond, to join this stance, and not to remain indifferent, because silence today is complicity in crime.
We call on governments, international institutions and humanitarian organizations to assume their moral, political and legal responsibilities to stop this genocidal massacre.
This appeal is a humane call and a human and religious duty. Islam teaches us to stand against injustice, to protect the innocent, and to raise our voices when human dignity and life are violated.
History will judge severely those who remained silent, those who were indifferent, and those who chose to turn a blind eye to this atrocity. It will be a testimony against every people and nation that did not place even a stone of peace to stop this carnage.
Being aware of our opportunities and capacities as Albanians, we demand that our political and religious leaders, and not only, stand on the right side of history, which is the side of justice, humanism, and truth.
Gaza today is the cause of humanity, the cause of justice and universal conscience.
We, the imams of Albania, raise this appeal with the belief that the word of truth never dies, because the Lord of the worlds is on the side of those who stand for what is right.
God is a witness to our words and attitudes.
