The Socialist Party has taken a stand against the opposition's request to develop a motion with debate in the Assembly regarding the case of the former director of the State Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni.
During the Conference of Speakers, the Socialists declared that the suspicions raised against the former head of SHISH should be investigated and clarified by SPAK, without interference or overlap from other institutions. According to the SP, the Assembly should not use the instruments of parliamentary control to duplicate or replace the powers of the prosecution.
The opposition, on the other hand, is demanding the development of a motion with debate to examine the institutional responsibilities related to the appointment, exercise of the duty, supervision and removal of Hysen from the management of SHISH. The DP also demands clarifications on the measures taken to protect classified information and on the functioning of control mechanisms over the institution.
In its position, the majority argues that determining criminal liability is the competence of the judicial authorities and that the investigative process must be conducted independently.
The SP also referred to Hysen's dismissal from office, presenting it as part of the approach to not interfering in matters that are the subject of judicial investigations. The Socialists emphasized that no one is above the law, while guilt or innocence must be ultimately determined by the court.
Vlora Hyseni is under investigation by SPAK, while the Special Court had imposed the security measures of "house arrest" and "suspension from duty" on her.
