The meeting held on Monday evening at the DP headquarters in Shkodra, called to confirm the candidates for chairman of the local branch, was accompanied by tensions and clashes among the members present.
It is learned that the decision of the headquarters to confirm only two candidates, while the list proposed by the base included more names, has sparked strong debates during the discussions. Some of the members have opposed this decision, raising questions about the criteria and procedure for selecting candidates.
According to the same sources, verbal clashes between participants later escalated into physical incidents and an exchange of insults between some members present at the meeting. The intervention of other participants made it possible to calm the situation and avoid further escalation of the conflict.
The elections for the head of the Democratic Party of Albania branch in Shkodra are expected to take place on March 15.
