The Social Democratic Party led by Tom Doshi, despite having three mandates in the Assembly, does not have any functional offices in the country's municipalities. For this reason, Doshi has addressed an official request to the Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, requesting that this institution encourage mayors to make state facilities available without the obligation to rent them from third parties.
The document signed by Doshi states that PSD, based on the election results of 2021 and 2025, meets all legal criteria for this public benefit.
"We have previously requested from local government bodies in 60 municipalities of the Republic of Albania to provide us with a building for the local offices of the PSD. From the official responses, only the Municipality of Elbasan has offered a facility. All other municipalities have stated that they do not have free space," the PSD request states.
The party also emphasizes financial difficulties as the main reason for this situation, claiming that over one million lek have been spent on office rent alone.
"Due to the lack of liquidity, we are forced to contract premises only during election campaigns. This prevents us from exercising political activity in most of the territory, due to bureaucracy and the lack of financial support from the state," it further states.
A few days ago, Agron Shehaj's Mundësia Party submitted a similar request to the CEC, which, with two MPs, is seeking a central headquarters financed from the state budget.
