Today at 9:00, November 19, I will cross the threshold of SPAK. This time not about the "Partizani" issue, but to provide explanations regarding one of the most serious events of the last 20 years: the killing of four protesters on January 21, 2011 in front of the Prime Minister's Office building.
In the 14 years since the incident, Sali Berisha has not been asked to testify in this case, even though he was Prime Minister at the time of the murders — considered state-sanctioned — and recently served two subpoenas, but Berisha, playing with the procedure, refused to accept them and thus avoided appearing.
The last time, prosecutors chose to deliver the summons directly to the premises of the mosque building, where the former Prime Minister had gone for the "compulsory appearance" measure in connection with the "Partizani" file.
The murder of Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj, Hekuran Deda and Aleks Nika on January 21st undoubtedly remains one of the most shocking events in the country. Berisha is expected to provide explanations to prosecutors about what happened inside the Prime Minister's Office building before, during and after the violent opposition protest of the time.
Despite a previous investigation, the murders of Aleks Nika and Hekuran Deda have not been solved. While for Ziver Veizi and Faik Myrtaj, the sentences have been minimalist: 1 year for Ndrea Prendi, the former head of the Republic Guard, and 3 years for former guard Agim Llupo.
