Through a notice, the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has banned the activities of the British non-governmental organization The Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies.
This development also affects Albanian academic Andi Hoxhaj, who is an associate fellow at The Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies. Hoxhaj practically becomes persona non grata in Russia.
The notification document sent by Russia to the British institute states: "If members and those working there renounce the Institute and no longer have any formal association, they will be removed and allowed to enter Russia."
The organization has existed since 1831 in the United Kingdom and positions itself as the oldest independent "think tank" that deals with research in the fields of defense, global security and international relations.
It is funded by British authorities, the European Commission, NATO countries, and unwanted organizations in our country — Russia says
"A significant part of the materials and activities is devoted to research in the political and military spheres of Russia. RUSI participants regularly organize trainings and seminars where, under the guise of countering an imaginary Russian threat, they discuss the tactics of Russian combat and intelligence operations, methods of conducting war, and the creation of new weapons," the announcement says.
“NGO members publish articles accusing Russia of attempting to annex Europe, discredit the West, and interfere in the electoral processes of other countries. A number of materials contain calls for NATO members to unite in order to exert the most destructive influence on the Russian economy. With the launch of the special military operation, anti-Russian rhetoric has intensified; NGO members have begun calling on states and citizens to support Ukraine and strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia.”
