Minister of Health and Social Protection, Evis Sala, is reported to own assets worth a total of around 5.3–5.6 million euros, according to official asset declaration documentation. The declaration includes personal assets as well as those of related family members, including her husband Gëzim Selenica and son Pier Selenica.
The asset structure is notable for its orientation mainly towards financial instruments abroad. The portfolio includes investment funds worth several million euros and pension accounts denominated in foreign currencies, such as US dollars and British pounds. In addition, high-quality real estate properties have been declared, as well as bank accounts, while an active bank loan also results.
In total, the value of the declared assets, which includes investments, deposits and real estate, amounts to around 5,640,000 euros, ranking the minister among the officials with considerable financial exposure, including in international capital markets.
However, in a public reaction yesterday evening, Minister Sala stated that her wealth is not high compared to the profession she has practiced.
"My declared wealth is low for a doctor, in fact for two doctors since my husband was also a surgeon...", she said.
