The Territorial Reform Commission began its work today, but the Democratic Party's seats remained empty again. Although this is one of the most important initiatives that the opposition itself has been insistently demanding, the Democratic MPs chose not to appear.
In the hall opposite the Socialists, only two representatives from the DP's allied parties sat, Edmond Haxhinasto of the Freedom Party and Vangjel Dule of the PBDNJ. The rest of the opposition was absent, without any public explanation.
It should be noted that this time the boycott is not related to Gazment Bardhi's "order" to not participate in the committees, as in most of them Democrat MPs were present. This raises the simple question, are we dealing with a political boycott or a "misunderstanding" among the Democrats themselves?
If one part of the group follows Bardhi's orders and the other pretends not to have heard anything, then the opposition is adding to its confusion yet another reason to worry about itself. In any case, the DP would have to explain why it is absent from the committee that it itself requested and was present in the rest.
