Former DP MP Ervin Salianji has responded to the statement of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who said that he will not run against him because Salianji has "self-excluded". Through a post on Facebook, Salianji emphasizes that no one is above the DP Constitution and that the notion of "self-exclusion" does not exist in the statute.
He states that the Democratic Party needs clarity, unity and victory after 13 years of opposition, adding that he will continue to represent the concerns of the Democrats and the call for unity. Salianji also announces that the next meeting will be held on Sunday in Lezha.
Full post:
No one is above the Constitution of the Democratic Party, approved by the membership by vote! The lack of seriousness towards the many Democrats who think differently is a serious blunder. All participants in my meetings are 24-carat Democrats. They deserve only respect and gratitude.
The Democratic Party needs clarity. The Democratic Party needs to become a winner.
It owes this to the Democrats, after 13 years of opposition. This is the expectation of all Albanians who want and expect the rotation.
The union of the Democrats and the entire opposition around it should be the most serious effort to make the Democratic Party a winner.
This goal is clearly foreseen in the statute and with responsibility in case of loss and privileges in case of victory. The Constitution of the Democrats does not even have "self-exclusions".
I will continue to represent without hindrance and despite my real concern for the Democrats! Their will for unity, for dignity and for a winning Democratic Party.
See you on Sunday in Lezha
