Political parties have reached agreement on the final version of the establishment and functioning of the Electoral Reform Commission.
The Special Commission will consist of 16 members: 7 from the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, 7 from the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group and 2 representatives from parties that have won at least two mandates in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025. The names of the members will be determined by decision of the Assembly.
Other members of parliament from other parties will be able to participate in the meetings of the Commission, without the right to vote, but with the opportunity to submit proposals for changes to the electoral legislation. Decision-making in the Commission will be based on the principle of broad consensus.
Decisions are considered approved by a majority vote of all members, but only if the agreement of both co-chairs is also ensured.
The Commission will exercise its activity for a period of 9 months from the moment of adoption of this decision. If necessary, upon a reasoned request of the co-chairs, the Assembly may decide to extend the deadline by a special decision.
