MP Elisa Spiropali seems to be having trouble finding peace since she left the post of Foreign Minister and started clashing with Belinda Balluku and Prime Minister Edi Rama in the Socialist Party. Today, Spiropali was the protagonist with another reaction on social networks where, among other things, she denounced that state institutions are putting pressure on her.
According to her, we are now talking about a system where institutions no longer function as decision-making spaces, but as instruments of pressure; where decisions are not built together, but are imposed selectively; where the law does not stand above everyone, but is bent according to the needs of the moment.
Spiropali goes even further, implying that state structures, often appointed and promoted by the same hand, accompanied by portals financed with dark money, can be used as pressure mechanisms, even to target family members of people holding public positions.
However, the former Foreign Minister's concern also seems to be related to her family's businesses.
VNA learns that some of these businesses have been subject to verifications by the tax administration, which seems to have prompted Spiropal's strong public reaction. It is not yet known which entities are involved, but VNA brings an overview of the businesses of Spiropal's family members.
Her husband, Salarjon Totaj, turns out to be the owner of a company that operates in property brokerage, commercial representation, and investment consulting.
Meanwhile, her brother, Enkli Spiropali, is the owner of the entity "Best Taxi", which offers taxi services, but also vehicle sales and rentals. He also owns another entity that operates in the field of commission and mediation, an activity that connects interested parties for various transactions, providing benefits through percentages.
These are just some of the businesses that, at least officially, are still owned by the close family members of the former senior official. But the history of the businesses does not end here.
We recall that earlier, Enkli Spiropali was the owner of the company "Solomon Construction", founded in Fier in August 2013, with activity in import-export and trade of industrial items. In April 2015, he sold this company to Marjus Memushaj, cousin of Salarjon Totaj, husband of the SP MP.
The company then ended up in the hands of Spiropali's sisters-in-law, Blerina and Luranda Totaj. In October 2021, Memushaj sold Solomon Construction to Fortes Construction, which is also linked to the Totaj family and is owned by the same sisters-in-law.
"Fortes Construction", founded in 2015 and headquartered in Tirana, operates mainly as a subcontractor in projects that benefit from public funds and concessions, turning over considerable amounts each year.
This network of activities also includes the company "BIOFOOD'S", which was owned by Spiropali's father-in-law, Luan Totaj, and which operates in the field of import-export and trade of food and industrial products in the Frakulla e Madhe area. Three years after its establishment, this company was sold for 20 thousand euros to citizen Beqir Ahmeti.
In this intertwined panorama of businesses and family ties, it is likely that the taxes may have found some irregularities that have brought the anger of Spiropali. The former minister who recently has to face the revenge of the government that until a few weeks ago served her with dedication and praised her to the point of humiliation.
