Ervin Salianji has reacted to the fire that broke out in a building in Tirana, harshly criticizing what he describes as the opposition's silence and protection of figures linked to abuses in construction. In his reaction, Salianji accuses Sali Berisha of protecting former Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj.
"The defense that Sali Berisha made today for Fatmir Xhafaj brought to light what many had long suspected: their connections are real and deep," says Salianji.
He emphasizes that the main people responsible for corruption and substandard construction are Prime Minister Edi Rama and Mayor Erion Veliaj, but adds that avoiding Xhafaj's role is intentional.
"Avoiding Xhafaj's role is not just a diversion and a smokescreen, but a deliberate defense," he declares.
According to him, cooperation with the same economic actors has created a system where the government and the opposition feed each other.
"Sali Berisha is not an alternative for a change of power, but the other side of the same coin. He is a mechanism for maintaining power for Edi Rama," he says.
In conclusion, Salianji calls for double change, both in government and in opposition.
"Without cleansing the opposition, Albania cannot be won. The Democratic Party needs change, Albania needs change! Enough!", concludes his reaction.
