The Dibra Court has ordered the security measure "Arrest with imprisonment" for Sadete and Gazmir Fiku, mother and son, suspected of the murder of Urim Fiku, their husband and father, respectively. The serious incident occurred on November 3 in the village of Godvi, Bulqiza.
During the court hearing, both arrested denied involvement in the crime, insisting on the version that the 61-year-old was attacked by a bear in the forest.
According to their statements, Urim Fiku had returned to the apartment bleeding and with serious injuries to his body, after the alleged attack by the wild animal. They claimed that the 61-year-old, after entering the house, had taken the pistol and shot himself in the chest.
His wife, Sadete Fiku, stated that she had notified the ambulance, while his son, Gazmir Fiku, claimed that he was not in the apartment at the time of the incident, as he was working at OSHEE in Bulqiza.
Mother and son also claimed that the victim went to the forest to set traps to catch wild animals, mainly pigs.
However, their version contradicts the suspicions raised by investigators. Forensic examinations have determined that the 61-year-old had a gunshot wound, while police suspect that he was also struck with sharp objects.
During the investigation, a model 54 pistol was seized, along with ammunition, as well as a shell casing found in the yard of the apartment.
To fully clarify the circumstances of the death, further results of criminalistic and forensic examinations are awaited, which will help determine the dynamics of the event.
At the end of the hearing, the court decided that Sadete and Gazmir Fiku will remain in prison during the investigation, while both continue to deny the charges of murdering their family member.
