Paying $6 million to remove the "non-women", the least you can do is to ensure a company that is professional in this field and does not make gross blunders. This is the case of the Democratic Party and Sali Berisha. After signing the contract with the lobbying company Continental Strategy, the latter sent a letter to the US State Department, where, among other things, it argued that Berisha is no longer active in politics, a claim that immediately became the subject of criticism.
This statement caused a media furor, with VNA among the first to describe it as a serious blunder by lobbyists, who are seeking a "difficult mission" as they describe in the contract, the lifting of the non grata declaration, through even greater deception.
As Top Channel reports, eight days later, the company seems to have reflected and sent an updated version of the letter, where Berisha is now considered an active political figure, although not part of the government. In fact, in the second correction, he is described as a popular opposition leader and an influential political figure in the region.
The revised letter sent to the State Department by Continental Strategy states:
“This revised report replaces a previous version. It now accurately reflects that, while Mr. Berisha currently holds no government office, he remains an active political figure in the region and a popular leader of the opposition party in Albania. This was also accurately noted on page 15 of the previous version. The essential content of the report remains unchanged: Mr. Berisha and his family should never have been the subject of the designation, which was not justified. Its removal is supported by the facts and the law, and is in the best interests of the United States and the Albanian people.”
How was the letter:
“The Section 7031(c) designation of former President and Prime Minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, should be lifted immediately. This designation was politically motivated, without factual basis, harmed U.S. foreign policy interests, and contributed to the deterioration of the situation in Albania, which critics now describe as a ‘narco-state.’ While democracy in Albania is under serious threat and Berisha is no longer an active political figure, lifting the designation would restore American neutrality and credibility in the region.”
How the letter was made:
“The Section 7031(c) designation against former President and Prime Minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, should be lifted immediately. This designation was politically motivated, without factual basis, harmed U.S. foreign policy interests, and contributed to Albania’s degradation into what critics now call a ‘narco-state.’ While Albania’s democracy is under serious threat and Berisha currently holds no government office but remains an active political figure, lifting the designation would restore American neutrality and credibility in the region.”
